Learn To Cook
Come in and look through our recipes and menus, all our recipes are firm family favourites and ones that we have been enjoying over many years, some will be our Mother’s recipes, some originating from ‘Good Housekeeping’ or the like, but adapted and tweaked over generations and some will be from scraps of paper with a hand written recipe on them either way, we would like to share these precious, delicious pieces of nostalgia with you.
If , however, you find a recipe that you like, or indeed an entire menu and you don’t feel that you have the skills or confidence to tackle it alone, we can come and guide you through the processes, teaching you the practical skills, providing advice on the ingredients and equipment you’ll need. This could be a one to one session, or with a group of friends, depending on the space available. We will also be very happy to run children’s sessions, where children can learn about tastes, textures, fruit and vegetables, nutrition and simple baking/cooking skills. Everyone will get his or her own Recipe House Apron to keep! Please contact us to book a fun and informative session.

It has been our pleasure to cook the Friday night suppers at Lee-on-the-Solent Sailing Club (LOSSC) for the past 3 years. We provide freshly prepared and cooked meals each week for 15-50 members. All our food is freshly prepared from scratch and our ingredients are all locally sourced where possible. We also provide catering for their special celebrations such as, Trafalgar Night, Burns Night, as well as a number of celebratory dinners throughout the year.
Angela settled back here on the sunny south coast to bring up her children, but continued to work in outside catering and school kitchens. She then decided to qualify as a teacher and was lucky enough to teach Catering and Hospitality at Fareham College for a number of years. Following her time at Fareham College she had a yearning for wine, so re-trained and learnt an awful lot about wines and spirits, gaining the WSET Diploma after 3 hard years of study and worked for the very prestigious Berry Bros. & Rudd, where she stayed for 8 years before leaving to work for herself and see more of her Grandchildren.
Jane travelled the world with the Army, before settling in Warsash with her children. She then took the helm as Head Chef at County Caterers, where she remained for 10 years. Jane has prepared and cooked for the Royal Family including HRH Queen Elizabeth II, she has managed a team of male chefs, cooked for private dinners of 10 people and huge banquets of 600. As her children have flown the nest to warmer climes, she now has a slightly easier time and cooks for a private nursery in Southampton.
We have known each other for over 35 years, since meeting at Highbury Catering College in the late 1970s, in those days the College had 40 Lecturers, all specialists in their field, we were very fortunate to be taught to the highest levels in classical Haute Cuisine.
We were both total swats and left after 3 years with a string of City & Guilds and a Professional Diploma in Cookery and a lifelong friendship. We went our separate ways of course and both headed straight for the hotel trade, Angela to London and Jane to the New Forest.
